Born in Trinidad, Bianca immigrated to the United States at the age of 12. After years of doing hair for family members, she became a hairstylist and barber’s apprentice, all at the tender age of 14. Bianca brings her Caribbean roots and American sense of style to each and every hair creation. She is the owner of New Horizons Hair by Bianca. Bianca’s vast knowledge is evident in her work.
Renowned Manhattan stylist Joseph Plaskett of Hairstyling by Joseph took Bianca under his wings in her early years. It was there Bianca added standard hair styling and maintenance to her repertoire that already included braids and weaving services.
Bianca’s artistic and creative styles were featured at other established salons including Yves Claude, Nardi’s, and Black Hair Is. She has conducted grooming workshops at Harbor Junior High School in Manhattan empowering teenagers in self-esteem and self-love.
Some of Bianca’s clients over the years included Diana Ross, Iman, Lauryn Hill, Janet Jackson, and Donatella Versace, among others. Photos or her work have appeared in numerous publications and trade journals including Black Hair Digest, Modern Hair andStyle, Good Housekeeping, and Black Salon Client Guide. Bianca’s current work is published in Bella Magazine and an online blog.
Bianca believes that education is very important, while accomplishing her goals and mastering her techniques as a Master Stylist, she found time to go back to school and graduated with her Bachelor of Art degree in Business Administration and an MBA in Business Management.
Bianca is also a humanitarian, a teacher, and a wonderful orator. She has put her personal skills to use by partnering with the American Cancer Society to facilitate “The Look Good, Feel Better Program” at NYU Cancer Institute and a Service Provider Member of the Trichotillomania Learning Center. She mentors young ladies and teaches them about self-esteem, self-confidence and self-love. Her passion for her work has allowed her to help family members and friends with their deceased loved ones by styling their hair.
Bianca faced many challenges during her tenure in accomplishing her goals. The most daunting experience was the loss of her husband and becoming a single parent. During this time Bianca closed her business. This experience propelled her to complete her education and expand her vision and creativity in helping others to restore their self-esteem and confidence.
Bianca works closely with the esteemed Federico Calce of Federico Salon for many years, and during the hiatus of her business. She has overcome her adversities, regrouped, and resurrected her business.
She is a member of the Artistic Council Team for the company Evolve where she created the technique for the application for “The Evolve Volumizer.” The Evolve Volumizer is a hair integration hair system for individuals with hair thinning and hair loss. Bianca is one of the main educators of the company which trains salon owners and hairstylists the application of The Evolve Volumizer.
Bianca’s livelihood is to create outward beauty. Nevertheless, she ardently believes true beauty emanates from a person’s inner peace and self-worth. To promote this love of self, Bianca has generously offered her services to a number of local not-for-profit organizations. As a Christian, Bianca feels it is her duty to share her blessings and talent with those less fortunate.
Bianca resides in New York City with her daughter.
